The two sides haven't made any progress recently.
As training camp rapidly approaches, the possibility of Doughty missing actual playing time is becoming more and more real.
Selanne Hints At Return To Ducks
Teemu Selanne hinted that he wants to return to the Ducks for one more season.
The only thing holding him back might be his knee issues.
Selanne, 41, said he's "very optimistic" about a return, which is probably a hint that he's feeling pretty good.
Talks Between Bruins, Marchand Hit Wall
Talks between the Bruins and Andrew Marchand appear to have hit a wall.
The Boston Globe reports that "both sides remain stone silent."
Logan Couture's two-year deal for $5.75 million with San Jose may help provide a starting point Marchand, who is one year older but had 15 fewer regular season points than Couture.
Isles Still Looking To Add To Roster
The Islanders are still looking to add a few players before the start of the regular season.
"[GM Garth Snow] is not done," a scout said.
"I know he tried all summer to add a defenseman, but the (Christian) Ehrhoff thing went bust because they wouldn't give him a blank check up front and he hasn't been able to connect on another deal like he did with [James] Wisniewski last summer."
Wings May Be Brunnstrom's Last Chance
The Red Wings are giving Fabian Brunnstrom a tryout and they could be his last chance to make it in the NHL.
Brunnstrom spent last season in the AHL and didn't make a huge impression on anyone.
"The Red Wings have a history of successful reclamation projects and the roster is loaded with fellow Swedes, including Nicklas Lidstrom, Henrik Zetterberg and Tomas Holmstrom," writes The Sporting News.
Jets Want To Re-Sign Wellwood
The Jets are apparently interested in signing Kyle Wellwood.
However, Winnipeg isn't necessarily Wellwood's first choice.
Wellwood reportedly wants to return to the Sharks, but it doesn't look like they want to sign him quite yet.
